My background as a Registered Nurse as well as an attorney is instrumental in my representation of clients with injuries. Although I am committed to the representation of my clients in many areas of the law, most of my clients seek my expertise as someone who understands their injuries and the law.

Description: C:\Users\Elaine\AppData\Local\Temp\bdb99d6a\images\elaine.2013-01-09.jpgThank you for visiting my web site. I am a graduate of West Hazleton High School, class of 1978 and obtained a registered nurse degree in 1981 from the Hazleton State General Hospital School of Nursing that was associated with Penn State University. I then relocated to Texas where I worked for years as a registered nurse in the world's largest medical center in Houston. During this time, I also obtained a degree in health care administration through St. Joseph's College. I worked with some of the most renowned physicians, like Dr. Michael DeBakey, and Dr. Denton Cooley, and found my work both fulfilling and challenging. However, Houston also had 3 law schools within its city limits which piqued my interest, so I entered Texas Southern University in my pursuit of a law degree. While attending law school full time, I also worked full time as a nurse paralegal for a downtown Houston law firm. I was also the recipient of the ABA's American Jurisprudence Award for excellence in contract law. I obtained my Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 1993.

Following law school, I worked as an attorney at one of the largest law firms in Houston. I returned to Luzerne County in 1994, having located a position as an attorney in Kingston, and becoming a partner. During this time, I was elected to the office of Exeter Township supervisor for a six year term. I have proudly served 11 years on the Harding-Mt. Zion Community Ambulance Association board of directors, remain one of PennDOT's volunteer coordinator's for Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Day, and am a board member for the Lower Luzerne County Bar Association. Additional positions include serving as Chairman of the Luzerne County Community College Board of Trustees, service on the Board of Directors for the PA State Police Camp Cadet - Troop P, and my election as the 50th President of the Luzerne County Bar Association, known as the Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association, which is the 4th oldest county bar association in the country and currently has 720 members.

In 2003, to better serve my clients, I opened my own law practice, COOK LAW, P.C.
Office consultations are by appointment, including appointments in the Hazleton Area to better serve those from the lower Luzerne County areas.
